About us

The Heart of Marichi Residence

Some places aren’t built —they’re grown. Stone by stone. Recipe by recipe. Lavender sprig by lavender sprig. Marichi Residence is one of those places.

Tucked into the quiet hills of Eastern Istria, just outside the historic town of Labin, Marichi isn’t just a guesthouse. It’s the story of three people — friends, creators, and dreamers — who came together to build something honest, beautiful, and deeply personal.

We are Daniela, Roberta, and Miska — each of us different, but bound by the same love for this land, its stories, and the joy of welcoming others into it.

Daniela
From Boardrooms to Lavender Gardens

For over 30 years, my world was Zagreb — banks, deadlines, decisions. I built a career in finance, and for a long time, it fulfilled me. But something deeper was calling. I wanted space. I wanted seasons. I wanted real roots. That longing brought me to Labin — and it gave me more than just a new address. It gave me a new life. Labin is now truly home. It’s where I’ve built friendships, planted gardens, and created a new rhythm for myself. I feel connected here — to the people, to the land, and to something more grounded than I ever imagined in my former life.

From this new beginning came Mirakul, a personal and agricultural project rooted in the soil I now call my own. I grow and make:

– Cold-pressed olive oil
– Lavender essential oil from my own fields
– Fruit jams and seasonal preserves
– Natural syrups made from rose, mint, sage, and elderflower

Each product is handmade, seasonal, and infused with care. You’ll find them at every meal at Marichi — not just as ingredients, but as part of the story we’re serving. My first guesthouse, Mirakul Residence, opened in 2017 in Labin’s Old Town. That’s when Roberta and I began creating together. Now, with Miska beside us, we’ve brought something even more personal to life.

Roberta

The Artistic Soul

Roberta Razzi brings beauty to everything she touches. A poet, performer, and painter, she brings creativity into space the way others bring light — naturally and effortlessly.

She writes in Labinjonski, the old dialect of Labin, keeping its rhythm, humor, and heart alive. Her signature sponge-painting technique gives walls a softness that feels almost like memory. Her eye for interiors isn’t about style — it’s about feeling. She creates places where you instantly exhale.

Roberta shaped the atmosphere of the original Mirakul Residence, and now she’s brought that same depth and warmth to Marichi — where every room carries her signature, and every corner tells a story.

Miska

The Quiet Strength — and the Generous Cook

Miska, is the quiet pulse behind everything we do. He’s steady, kind, and endlessly capable — the one who shows up early, fixes what’s broken, and keeps everything grounded. But his greatest gift? His cooking. Miska is a remarkable home chef, and much of what we serve at Marichi comes from his personal collection of recipes — simple, soulful Istrian meals that comfort and nourish. He cooks the way he lives: with care, precision, and warmth.

We all cook together. Some days it’s Roberta with herbs from the garden. Other days it’s me making jam from our plums. But more often than not, it’s Miska who ties it all together — quietly, deliciously.

At every meal, you’ll taste Mirakul: a spoon of sage syrup in your cocktail, lavender oil perfuming the air, or our mint syrup paired with fresh fruit. Our table is built from what we grow, what we love, and what we share.
